Overview

Other service activities

In the Other service activities sector, the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 2.4% in second quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The seasonally adjusted real GDP increased by 2.5%, while the nominal GDP increased by 1.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Exports from the Other service activities sector in 2025 grew by 47.7% compared to the previous year, while imports from the sector grew by 12.2%. As a result, the trade balance was ⃁ -7.3 billion, 23.1% higher than the previous year.

Other service activities sector achieved positive growth in the foreign direct investment (FDI) stock at the end of 2024, which amounted to ⃁ 334.3 million, compared to the FDI stock of 2023, which was ⃁ 248.7 million.

The inflows of FDI in the Other service activities sector grew by 36.4% in 2024 compared to the previous year, whereas the outflows of FDI showed an increase of 1,846.9% compared to previous period. Thus, the net flows amounted to ⃁ 85.5 million in 2024, while in 2023, it recorded ⃁ 155.4 million.

The overall distribution of the employed in the Other service activities sector reached 30.1% in first quarter of 2026, decreased from last quarter by 0.93 percentage points (pp) and decreased from a year ago by 1.29 pp.

For its part, the average weekly working hours was 44.1 hours in the third quarter of 2023, registering a decrease of 0.2% compared to the previous period and an increase of 1% compared to the same quarter of 2022.

The operating revenues of the sector reached ⃁ 36.8 billion in 2024, an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous year. For its part, the operating expenses amounted to ⃁ 15.5 billion, showing an increase of 6.4% compared to the previous period. As a result, the operating surplus of the Other service activities sector was ⃁ 11.7 billion, 8% higher than the previous period.

Real Sector Indicators

Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

In the second quarter of 2026, the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Other service activities amounted to ⃁ 110.0 billion. Additionally, the nominal GDP recorded a value of ⃁ 115.1 billion, while the seasonally adjusted real GDP stood at ⃁ 111.2 billion.

Points of Sale Transactions

In July 2026, the value of points of sale (POS) transactions amounted to ⃁ 18.1 billion in the Other service activities sector, being 10.8% higher than the previous month and 2.5% lower than the same month from the previous year.

SADAD System Payments

In July 2026, the SADAD system payments value in Other service activities sector reached ⃁ 3.3 billion, being 14.6% higher than the previous month and 23.3% higher than the same month from the previous year.

During July 2026, the Other service activities sector secured ⃁ 1.6 trillion in commercial bank credits, higher by 0.7% than the value of the previous month and higher by 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Finance Companies' Credit to Non-Retail

In 2025, the Other service activities sector recorded ⃁ 8.5 billion in finance company credit to non-retail, marking a 21.6% increase compared to the previous year.

External Sector & International Trade

Exports and Imports

Exports of the Other service activities sector reached ⃁ 14.0 billion in 2025. The primary destinations for these exports were Republic of India (⃁ 5.9 billion), People's Republic of China (⃁ 2.3 billion), and United Arab Emirates (⃁ 2.1 billion).

Trade Balance

In April 2026, the Other service activities sector recorded exports amounting ⃁ 1.4 billion and imports totaling ⃁ 1.5 billion, resulting in a trade balance deficit of ⃁ 77.3 million.

FDI net inflow: It represents the difference between inflows and outflows of foreign direct investment inflows.

Labor Market

Distribution of the Employed

In the first quarter of 2026, the percentage distribution of employed people in Other service activities sector reached 30.1%, with 28.7% for men and 37.3% for women.

Working Hours

During the third quarter of 2023, the average hours worked by Saudi men were 35.5, compared to 47.1 hours for non-Saudi men. Likewise, Saudi women averaged 31.3 hours, while non-Saudi women worked an average of 45.7 hours.

During the first quarter of 2026, a total of 1,734,450 participants on the job Subject to the rules and regulations of social insurance were registered in the Other service activities sector, with 92.9% being men (1,610,833 participants) and 7.1% women (123,617 participants).

In 2024, the operating revenues reached ⃁ 20.1 billion in micro establishments, while operating expenses amounted to ⃁ 8.9 billion, generating a surplus of ⃁ 6.3 billion.
